Threat Machine is experimental electronic music composer George Spanos. The Canadian musician weaves together a captivating blend of sounds that form a distinct voice for his music. Spanos has worked as a professional sound designer and audio director in the video game industry for over 12 years. His work includes Bioshock 2 and most recently the highly acclaimed Warframe, for which he has also been credited with a number of music compositions. This has equipped him with a unique ability to blur the lines between real-world sounds and ones that are pulled from within the depths of his subconscious. Spanos is also a co-host on War With Art, a weekly podcast that explores the many battles artists go through to practice their art.
His latest release Echoes of a Butterfly is a cinematic listening experience that weaves together elements of ambient, electronic, glitch, drone, and experimental music. Synth melodies, roughly recorded acoustic guitar, other-worldly choirs, undulating electronic drones and chopped up rhythmic elements all coalesce to form a unique listening experience. The central idea behind the album is a tale of life and death… a journey through the human condition that has a very unlikely ending.
Echoes of a Butterfly released November 30th, 2018 and is available here.
